Shalom! We saw the moon sliver last night before we commence the horn blowings. We had every kind of horn going through the siddur. It was fun, but also AWEsome. No meeting tonight, but we will meet Sabbath 2 PM. Food is postponed until next week. Did you know that a number of New Testament texts have been found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Probably not, as the church has been doing everything it can to keep this out of the new for the last decade. One of the texts found in Cave 7 represents 1 Tim 3:16 - 4:3:
Without any doubt, the mystery of our religion is very deep
indeed: Certainly, this is a message for our time, resurrected from a musty tomb. We must think about in with a first-century mindset, not with the 21st century churched mind. In reading it with new eyes, one can readily see why this particular excerpt would be caught up in a desperate struggle of truth v. consensus and remain hidden away in a few musty textbooks of recently dead scholars.
