Netzari Yahad of Vero Beach Mah Shlom'chem, Chevari?
Wondering what to do for Feast of
Tabernacles? According to my calendar, Tabernacles is October 13-18
and the Last Great Day is the 19th - 20th. As is our custom, we
turn to Linda Blessing to provide a local Tabernacles get-together
of Yahweh's people. If you're not camping somewhere, you can still
wave the Lulav in a Suqah! Phone Linda for time and location; she is
a very hospitable and knowledgeable host. Her number is (772)
713-6363. Lee (Yaaqov) and I will be attending the B'nai Yahshua 7th Annual Conference in Atlanta through Tabernacles (starting the 10th). We are to be one of the main speakers (on the topics of "The Jesus Family Tomb: Who is There and Where Did they Come From," "Essene Celibacy, Marriage, and Marriages," and "The First Century Nazarene Life Compared with the Contemporary Movement"). We'll also have several hours to present the Yahad approach to 'evangelism' and The EloHymnal. There are still openings if you want to camp with us.
Do you have a laptop computer you no longer use? We need three laptops to complete our "Internet Cafe." We will load your computer with sacred literature, and it will be used to study the Way, the Truth and the Life. We thank those of you who have made in-kind contributions to the Yahad (Togetherness) concept in Vero Beach.
Now I leave you with three versions
of the wonderful little Yiddish song, "My Sukkaleh (little
shelter)." Read all three. They are very cute while giving the
tabernacler a nostalgic taste of Sukkot from a child's perspective. Version 1: A sukkaleh, quite small, Wooden planks for each wall; Lovingly I stood them upright. I laid thatch as a ceiling And now, filled with deep feeling, I sit in my sukkaleh at night. A chill wind attacks, Blowing through the cracks; The candles, they flicker and yearn. It's so strange a thing That as the Kiddush I sing, The flames, calmed, now quietly burn. In comes my daughter, Bearing hot food and water; Worry on her face like a pall. She just stands there shaking And, her voice nearly breaking, Says "Tattenyu, the sukkah's going to fall!" Dear daughter, don't fret; It hasn't fallen yet. The sukkah's fine; banish your fright. There have been many such fears, For nigh two thousand years; Yet the sukkeleh's still standing upright.
Version 2:
My Sukkahleh is small,
not fancy at all,
The wind was a cold one,
the cracked walls were old ones,
My sweet little daughter
sensing the danger,
Fear not my child, it's
been quite a while,
Version 3:
A Sukkaleh, quite small,
wooden planks for each wall;
A
chill wind attacks, blowing through the cracks;
In
comes my daughter, bearing hot food and water;
Dear
daughter, don't fret; it hasn't fallen yet.
And may your little sukkahleh stand for a thousand year Millennium,
